Morning Coffee – Hawkshead

While visiting Hawkshead I came across this wonderful café – the Minstrels Gallery tea rooms. It's just the place to stop off for lunch or a coffee, where you can sit outside under a shady parasol surrounded by the tempting aroma of good coffee and delicious cooked food. It's tucked into a quiet corner away from the noise of traffic (not there is much of that anyway). Before settling down for a welcome cup of coffee and a scrumptious toasted tea cake spread generously with butter, I made this sketch to capture the happy, relaxed atmosphere of the scene. I can't wait to go back!

My original artwork is created using pen and a variety of water-soluble media, watercolour (White Knight watercolours) watercolour pencils, ink, Inktense pencils and blocks from Derwent, and occasionally Brusho on Bockingford hot or cold pressed paper
